Janet Rogers is an artist who follows in the traditional path making stained glass
panels. Based in Durham gets most of her inspiration looking over the cathedral,
gardens and rural landscape.
Her work has a contemporary feel adding new life to
old buildings using vibrant, translucent, opalescent and iridescent glass.
Janet
can also incorporated fused glass into her panels, this process is a design made
in glass and then fused together by placing the glass into a kiln for over 10 hours,
giving the final project an updated twist on a traditional art form.
All glass is
individually hand cut making the finished product a totally authentic piece of art,
which is signed and dated.
Janet uses Kokomo and Spectrum glass. Blowpipe pure solder
without flux Arnold and Heaps Lead, 1/4" round came (which is stronger, less likely
to distort) and 1/2" flat for the surround. Larger panels are also strengthened with
internal copper strong line, this is placed within the lead came and not seen.
Finished panels can be sealed in a double glazed unit for use in exterior doors and windows
